How does pricing compare to Splitwise Pro?
Make It Even Pro is $3.99/mo or $29.99/yr. Splitwise Pro retails at $4.99/mo or $49.99/yr — we're roughly 20% less per month and ~$20 less per year for the same job. The Free tier is also more generous: no per-day expense cap, no ads, and locked daily FX rates included.
Can I switch between Free and Pro?
Yes — upgrade any time from your account page. If you cancel Pro, you keep the features until the end of your current billing period and then drop back to Free.
What happens to my data if I downgrade and I'm over the group limit?
Nothing happens to existing groups — you keep full read access and can keep adding expenses to them. The cap only fires when you try to create a 4th active group. Your history is preserved either way.
Do you store credit card info?
No. Card data goes directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see it.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes — we'll refund any charge within 7 days, no questions asked. After that, you can cancel any time and finish out your current period.
Can I pay for my friends' Pro?
Not directly today — each account pays its own subscription. We may add a shared/family plan later if there's demand.
Are exchange rates accurate?
Yes. We use the Frankfurter rates API and lock in the day's rate on every expense. Rates published later don't change your history — your trip's math stays exactly the same as the day you ran it.
How does the receipt scanner work?
Take a photo, we extract the merchant, total, currency, items, and date using AI vision. You confirm before saving. Available on Pro.
What if I cancel?
Pro features turn off at the end of your current period. All your groups, expenses, settlements, and receipts stay exactly where they are.
